What do I need to do after I sell the vehicle?

Sign and date all lien documents and deliver them to the purchaser at the time of sale. (We reccomend you keep a copy for yourself) The purchaser is granted FIVE days to submit a completed and signed set of lien documents to any authorized California Department of Motor Vehicles field office. If you sell the vehicle for more than you are owed, you must remit any excess monies you received to the Department of Motor Vehicles, Lien Sale Section, 2415 1st Ave., Sacramento, CA 95818 for deposit into the Motor Vehicle Account, State Transportation Fund. Remit with a complete copy of the Certificate of Lien Sale.

NOTE:  There is a ten (10) day redemption period for all vehicles processed as valued over $4,000.00  You may accept a deposit from the highest bidder but you MAY NOT release the vehicle to the buyer for an additional 10 days.  Call us at 619-342-8005 with any questions you may have regarding this rule.
